What was Covered
Topic: Sialendoscopy: Past, Present, and Future Perspectives
Professor Rashid Al Abri’s lecture on “Sialendoscopy: Past, Present, and Future Perspectives” provided a detailed journey through the evolution of sialendoscopy in managing salivary gland disorders. He began by discussing its origins in the early 1990s for diagnostic purposes with basic tools. The technique evolved over time, focusing on non-invasive approaches to treat salivary stones and ductal issues.
In the present, advancements in high-definition cameras, lasers, and minimally invasive procedures have made sialendoscopy a preferred method for treating salivary gland conditions. These innovations have led to better patient outcomes, with reduced recovery times and fewer complications.
Looking to the future, Professor Al Abri highlighted potential and improved imaging technologies. These innovations promise even more precise treatments, making sialendoscopy an essential tool in salivary gland management. The lecture also emphasized the importance of continued research and collaboration in advancing these techniques for enhanced patient care and the utilization of AI in the process of training on models to master such a type of intervention.
The Session Was Moderated By Dr. John Victor who shared a compelling case study on sialendoscopy, showcasing its practical application and the clinical decision-making process involved. His presentation underscored the effectiveness of the technique in real-world scenarios and sparked an engaging discussion among attendees.
